For our Mister's birthday, he chose camping as his family activity.
He LOVES camping!
Once we got up the canyon (American Fork. Timpanooke site), we set up camp and roasted dinner of dogs and s'mores and starburst.
This Little Man wanted to be in charge of his own roasting stick. Silly.
First night. Fam photo. Lookin' good!
First morning. Kyle did okay. It's amazing how easy it is to go to bed early and wake up way too EARLY when you're camping!
Obsessed with sticks. He wouldn't even leave the fire poker stick alone.
Oops. We forgot a few things. Breakfast at One Man Band in Lehi & a trip into Cabelas.
Allison was making a scared face.
Practicing. Allison did surprisingly okay on her own. Mommy shot once. killed once. oh yeah!
Isaac enlisted Daddy's help. Let's just say, it's a good thing we have some good huntin' girls in our family.

After Cabelas we ventured back to base camp. Ate lunch. Forced the baby to nap. Let kiddos explore. Then were on our way.
To hike Silver Lake. But first we had to drive 3 1/2 miles on this road (worse in some spots) in our van.
It took forever. Rained on our way and was a tad bit scary with the mountain cliff drop-offs on the sides of the road.
We finally made it only to find this sign. Trail was closed. Apparently, we missed the teeny tiny sign that was posted back at the beginning of the dirt road. Stupid. We were so pumped to go on a fun hike with waterfalls.
So instead we played in the stream nearby.
And got our feet wet. It was Coooold water, too!
Then explored some gigantic rocks.
A prarie dog came out to see what was up and provide us with some entertainment.
Sketchy bridge + lots of trees and bushes = fun family photo, yes!?

It was a rocky, muddy trek down to the lake. The water level was SO low.
You can never try enough to get the right shot using the timer!
Classic. I have one of these pictures for every child. I love it. It melts my heart!
Our view as we were driving back down the mountain. We were VERY high up!
Whew! It may not have turned out exactly as we had originally planned, but oh what a fun adventure we still had!!!

LOL! I love that you did this! It looks like you had so many good experiences! Good job on going to bed early.....our kids ALWAYS go to bed extremely late (11ish) and wake up SO early (5ish) because of the long days in the north. Somehow I manage to forget that every year.......
