You may or may not have noticed I have a running list of the books I want to read and AM reading on the right side of our blog. Well, I just couldn't leave it at that with this book. So, welcome to our first edition of
Lisa's Reading Corner
I'm going to try to be better about my book reviews...and maybe this Reading Corner will aid it along. Normally I gravitate to my two favorite genres Historical Fiction and LDS Romance. Yes, that silly cheesy stuff. I like it, okay. BUT I completely {HEART} Historical Fiction books. This one isn't in either genre, but I'm branching out a bit.
I just finished reading this book and I have to tell you I LOVED it! It's completely fictional and set up in such a way that it's full of mystery and fairytales and a GREAT plot. It bounces around from 1900 to 1975 to 2005 a lot, but it's easy to understand where you are and not get lost. Even though it's a heafty 550 pages, it took me a WEEK to read. You heard me right. A week! That's how good it was! I HIGHLY recommend it!

Sounds good, but the 550 pages scare me a little! Really though, I have been looking for something to read but I'm not sure what I'm looking for, what I'm in the mood for. I think I will check into this one though, thanks!
I just got done reading "These Is My Words" by Nancy E. Wilson. SO GOOD! If you love historical fiction, you will LOOOOVVEEE this story. Now, I'm going to see if can get your recommendation at my library.
Have you read "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett? Also excellent.
I just finished "Marley and Me." Now that's not historical or fiction, but a delightful romp with a big oafish dog, and I loved that it made me feel okay about defending the rights of our aging, troublesome cat. It's well written to keep you involved.
Other recent good reads: Secret Society of Bees (a favorite for me) and Kite Runner. Just started Time Traveler's Wife, but will probably take it back to the store I bought it at. Not sure I want to risk it getting better, but wasn't prepared for the sexual content right off the bat. I'm looking for Hidden Garden, I think, to take with me. Sounds perfect!
