Since I'm sure you're curious about Allison's prettily wrapped fingers, here's the story.Allie being as independent as ever felt the need to close the van door herself. She's done this many many times but, for some reason, this time she didn't use the door handle to close it. Instead she grabbed the opposite side of the door and was pushing it closed when she forgot to get her hand out of the way. Like a superhero, I ran to her aide and opened the door so she could get her finger out. Since she's quite the drama queen, she reacted in like fashion, as I probably would have in this situation, too. It was swelling up pretty bad AND after talking with my Dad we decided to take her to get looked at. We wanted to make sure that nothing had interferred with her growth plates, really.
X-rays showed a tiny, minute little chip on her pinky finger so they opted to wrap it for protection. We were still waiting for final word from the radiologist to determine if it was a legitimate break or just severe brusing. Mind you, this happened Wednesday.
This morning, 2 1/2 days later, we finally got word back from the Doctor about Allison's finger. NOT BROKEN! Halleujah! We promptly removed the splint and bandages and replaced them with princess band-aids since Bandaids are still the cure-all for kids, right! I'm sure she'll be bruised for a while yet, but at least we don't have to deal with the splint drama anymore!
