Our last day in Southern Utah we spent at the Kolob Canyons in Zion National Park. We really thought there would be more to it than there was, but that's okay. The views were spectacular and the one hike we went on there was really fun.
(Left) My parents, being from Arizona, are probably rolling their eyes at this picture...BUT I think the cactus flower here is absolutely gorgeous! I love the oxymoron of it, too. A Prickly plant that grows a soft delicate flower. Beautiful! (Right) Both kids wanted to see some wildlife. Well lizard. Thanks for delivering for them. We saw two. This one was about 2x the size of the first AND was willing to pose for our picture before scurrying off.

Next time you're in Zion's, get your kids to work on becoming Jr. Rangers. Allison LOVED working on all the projects then taking the Jr. Ranger oath and getting her badge. She felt uber special that day because of it!
What's up with this picture, you ask? Well, the van door broke when we were leaving the Kolob Canyons. "Smartly", we forgot to add our emergency road kit to the van after we had taken it out a while back. So, we borrowed tools from the park Rangers and Steven began trying to get the door to work. It wouldn't stay closed and latched. Scary! Forty (40) minutes later and after trying everything he could think of to fix that darn'd door, we gave the tools back to the Rangers and asked for a roll of Ductape. We can now say we've benefited from the miraculous wonders of Ductape. Once the door was "secured" we were on our way to Cedar City which was about 15 min north. My smart Mother gave me the phone number of my Great Aunt and Great Uncle that live in Cedar City now and once we reached them we were feeling a tiny bit better. Aunt Barb and Uncle Bob sent us to their mechanic who was expecting us. Once the mechanic looked at it, not even 30 seconds later, our door was working. SHEESH! He showed Steven the trick we removed the ductape and were on our way free of charge! What a blessing!!!!! We really thought we'd be spending the night at Aunt Barb and Uncle Bob's house while we waited for repairs.

I seriously, SERIOUSLY, need to show Dave the picture of your car, lol. Have Steve tell him about it, 'cause he still makes fun of me and my giant rolls of duct tape.
Kolob Canyon is so beautiful, but you're right, not much to it! We were surprised when it turned around at the top. But still worth the drive.
