Silver Beaver

My Dad is THE biggest scouter I know. He's been in the scout program in one form or another my whole life.  No lie.  When he was putting together his bio he found 5 years of his adult life where he wasn't serving in the scouting organization. UH-mazing!!!
He finally got nominated for the Silver Beaver award!!
The highest award you can get in the Boy Scout Organization.
He didn't see it coming...total surprise!
Didn't understand what the envelope was or why so many fellow scouters had shown up at our office Christmas Party.
Until he started reading...and not reading in parts to hold back the tears.
My Mom didn't hold back.  Neither did I.
This award is just as much for her as a Scouter supporter as it is for him.  She did a LOT of work compiling what she could for dates and service w/out tipping him off.
 We were SOOOOO excited!

There is even a poem and plaque given to the Silver Beaver nominees.
Are these two not the cutest parents you've ever seen!?
All that hard work is being recognized and rewarded.  Happy days.
The crew of fellow scouters that showed to present my Dad with is letter to tell him he's getting the Silver Beaver award!

Congratulations, Dad (and Mom)!
This Jensen Team couldn't be more proud of you.  You are AMAZING!
Love,
Us

That is so cool! I love that they came to his office to present the letter, rather than just having it mailed to him. Some Scouters serve forever without ever receiving this great recognition - mostly because there isn't someone in the background who can help come up with the info needed. So much needs to be said for your Mom, too! Congratulations to your father! Sounds like he's totally a Silver Beaver all the way!

Congrats to your dad! That is such a great accomplishment. When Kevin worked with for him, what little time it was, he only had good things to say about him. He really looked up to him. This is more proof that you have a pretty amazing father!!
